Webinar: Intro to Creating a Family Friendly Bike Club
Description
Join Terri and Levi of Piecycle Club as they join Perennial Cycle , Ducks in a Row (Fargo, ND), and Hardt Family Cyclery (Aurora, CO) in a discussion about starting family friendly cycling clubs!
Whether you are an individual thinking about organizing some social group rides, a few neighbors thinking about doing a bike bus or a bike shop thinking about having rides/events, this webinar will be a great place to hear ideas from a few people that have experience doing it.
You’ll hear about other people’s experiences starting a club and hopefully get some ideas about how to start your own! There will also be a Q&A at the end, but keep the chat questions rolling in throughout
The Panel:
Terri and Levi from Piecycle Club (Minneapolis)
Jimmy from Ducks in a Row (Fargo ND)
Mackenzie Hardt, the owner of Hardt Family Cyclery (Aurora, CO)
Ellie, Perennial Cycle ride organizer

Trick or Treat! Mini Pie Ride
We’re going Trick or Treating! 👻🎃
It’s a costumed Mini Pie Ride! The residents of Walker Place Senior Living will be handing out candy to our bike Trick or Treaters on Bryant Ave! We’ll meet at Farmstead Park playground at 9:45 AM to get into adorable parade formation, then roll together along Bryant to Trick or Treat. All ages welcome!
Mini Pie rides are especially great for the tiniest of riders. They’re VERY short and there will be plenty of time for casual hangs, playground time, and bike loops along Bryant or at the park. Striders, scooters, and stumblers are welcome and able to ride all in their own!
We can’t wait to see your costumes!
P.S. Bring some baked goods to share for a post-ride hang at the park! Brunch candy might not fill all of the tummy’s at the ride and we want to see and taste the best Fall bakes 😋
P.P.S. Thank you to Walker Place for reaching out with the idea for a Halloween ride along Bryant! What a great opportunity to highlight infrastructure and community
What: A short Mini Pie Ride to Trick or Treat on Bryant Ave! Residents of Walker Place will be handing out candy after we ride from Farmstead Park.
When: Sunday, October 27th at 9:45 AM. Roolout at 10 AM as an extremely cute parade.
Where: Lyndale Farmstead Park Playground. Residents of Walker Place will hand out candy between 37th & 38th on Bryant!

Meet at the Lynnhurst Rec Center at 9:30AM and we’ll rollout at 10AM. The route is a luxurious 3 miles East along Minnehaha creek (at Pastry Pace) to the Our Lady of Peace Pumpkin Patch 🎃. We’re so excited to see how (and how many) pumpkins get bike-hauled! There might be a pie for most impressive haul 🥧
East to Seward Cafe Group Ride
This Saturday we’re riding East to the oldest worker-run restaurant in the United States, Seward Cafe (since 1974)! We’ve got to capture the beginning of this magical Fall weather! Along the way we’ll be using the most lovely bike infrastructure Minneapolis has to offer - Bryant Avenue and the Midtown Greenway.
Details:
Start: Lyndale Farmstead Park playground at 9:30AM, roll-out at 10AM
End: Seward Cafe
Pace: 8-10 mph. No drop, and we’ll do our best to make sure we get through intersections as a group.

Cargo Bike Show & Tell
We’re super excited to announce that we’re hosting a Cargo Bike ‘Show & Tell’ event this Sunday, September 8th at Lyndale Farmstead Park! This event is for any and every cargo-curious folks out there AND for cargo bike owners. The goal is a wide variety of bikes and curious people to chat about them.
If you have a cargo bike please, please, please bring it! We’d love to hear what you think of it!
If you don’t own a cargo bike but have even the tiniest interest, this is the place for you! You can see a variety of cargo bike brands & styles and ask owners what they like and dislike. Do you carry children? How many? Has it replaced car trips? What about winter? Do you wish you had e-assist? Etc, etc
Free coffee, ice cream, and a few cargo bikes will be provided by @perennialcycle (❤️❤️❤️). It should make for quite the cozy Sunday morning of bike chit chat. We’ll be there from 9:30 to 11AM!
Note: this isn’t a group ride, but we encourage you to use the opportunity to cruise Bryant Ave. Pop into @bogartsdoughnuts, grab coffee and a burrito at @gigiscafempls

We’ll take a super simple route, ⬅️ West on 40th and ⬆️ North on Bryant, all the way to beautiful Loring Park. All ages welcome, but the wee littlest kids may want to hitch a ride - We’ll be traveling 8-10mph.
About @fawkesalleycoffee: Fawkes Alley Coffee is located in an alleyway as cozy as it is historic. Nestled alongside the Fawkes Building, built in 1911 by smith and BIKE BUILDER Leslie Fawkes*, the coffee shop helps funds the @futsalsociety! The Futsal Society offers free competitive soccer programs.
*L.H. Fawkes did build the Fawkes building as an automobile showcase and went on to be one of the primary sales and spokespersons for autos in Minneapolis. There was lead in everything back then, so we reserve judgement.

Many of you have met Eli and Emma at a Group Ride. They’re lovely, sweet, kind, and they’re moving to Colorado. As hard as it is to see them go, it’s an incredibly exciting change for their family and we’re as happy for them as we are sad for ourselves.
